Must provide proof of identity

Must be at least 16 years of age

Must provide one of the following:

• Active, Valid Passport OR
• Driver's License OR
• State Identification Card OR
• Military/Veterans' Identification Card

Must provide Vital Statistics Birth Certificate

Must provide social security card

Must be either a natural born US citizen or a legally authorized resident of the US 

Per the SC Board of Barber Examiners, all applicants are required to submit the results of a tuberculosis screening.  The screening must state that the applicant is not infected with tuberculosis. The screening must have occurred within the last twelve (12) months prior to applying for enrollment. Acceptable Documentation:

• Tuberculosis Screening Results
• Full Chest X-Ray

Proof of having completed at least 9th grade education 

Must provide two (2) recent 2”x2” full faced passport photo 

 If applicable, copy of legal documents that authorize a change in name such as marriage licenses, divorce decrees, or other court documents. NOTE: Permits will only be issued as reflected on legal document. (Birth certificate, marriage license, etc.) 

If applicable, submit a statewide criminal background report, court documents, parole/probation letter and a personal explanation of the listed violations. If violations happened in South Carolina, please gain a SLED report from https://catch.sled.sc.gov/ 

Remit $75 non-refundable application fee with school application to admissions director

Remit the $35 non-refundable board application fee via a check, money order or cashier’s check only. Make payable to LLR- Board of Barber Examiners. Turn in with Board application TO the Barber School

Applicants must submit both completed applications, including the required fees, and the required admissions eligibility documentation in person to an admissions representative. The representative will review the applications for accuracy and, if no errors are found, approve the applicant's enrollment into the program.
